Types of Sentence

What is Sentence?
Sentence is a group of words that makes a complete sense such as:
  • Ram goes to school daily.
  • May god bless you with a child!
  • How do you do?
  • Get me a glass of water.
  • What a scene it is!

Types of Sentences

1.Assertive Sentence:- Assertive Sentence is that sentence that makes any statement or assertion, is called Assertive Sentence such as-
  • You are a teacher.
  • This is not my pen. It is yours.
  • She knows how to read English.
  • Ram plays cricket.
2.Interrogative Sentence:- Interrogative Sentence does the work of asking question in two ways.
1- yes / no question
  • Are you singer?
  • Do you know science?
  • Is he mad?
2- wh-question
  • What is your name?
  • Where do you live.
  • What do you do?
3.Imperative Sentence:- Imperative Sentence is that sentence which gives command or makes expression of advice, order, request, Prohibition etc.such as
  • Don’t break the traffic rules.
  • Obey your parents.
  • Close the door.
  • Please get me a glass of water.
4.Optative Sentence:- It is a sentence expressing internal wish such as blessing someone or cursing anyone such as.
  • May he go to hell!
  • May you live long!
5.Exclamatory Sentence:- It is that sentence which expresses pleasure, sorrow, surprise, contempt etc. Such as 
  • Hurrah! Our team has won the match.
  • Alas! He got ruined.
  • What a scene it is.
